Fond du Lac is at the southern tip of huge lake Winnebago. We rode by a portion of it and saw everything from plush homes to nice little summer cottages.
On the way to Manitowoc (57 miles) the terrain was rolling with nice lakes such as this one. Many hills are far from insignificant from a biker's perspective.

This region appears to have been settled by strong Catholic families, judging from the names of the communities: St. Peter, Calvary, Marytown, etc. These images show both a non-insignificant "roller" and a beautiful church in a most prominent place in Marytown.
This day was a bit of a surprise in that we expected it to be a pushover as a ride. However, stiff northwest winds slowed us significantly, especially as we approached Manitowoc. Also, very strong, although short-lived rain storms drenched us. Soon after getting through the rain the sun popped out and started cooking me in my rain jacket.
